·HM Plant Honda look for better at Brands BSB
HM Plant Honda team-mates Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow had a weekend to forget at Oulton Park on the Bank Holiday weekend. Whilst leading the first British Superbike race of the day, Cal crashed out of contention at Lodge corner, but restarted his machine to finish in sixth place.
·Valentino Rossi back to GP winning ways
Spanish riders Dani Pedrosa (for Honda) and Jorge Lorenzo (for Yamaha) shared the 2008 MotoGP World Championship lead, each having taken a win, a second and a third place; and likely title rivals Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) and Casey Stoner (Ducati) were next in the points table.
·Thruxton Superstock - Howies race weekend
Having taken time out from the official test day at the Norfolk circuit of Snetterton due to snow, Howie Mainwaring had opted for a track day at his local circuit prior to the first race of the season at Brands Hatch. Once again the weather turned nasty, and the whole Brands Hatch race meeting was declared void due to snow, which covered the circuit during the early Sunday morning.

Following the disappointment of Brands Hatch, where the first round of the 2008 Bennetts British Superbike Championship had to be postponed due to bad weather, Thruxton played host to round two - and this time the full racing programme went ahead. The Hampshire circuit has had its fair share of action, and there was more drama to be seen in 2008.
·Jorge Lorenzo takes his first win in MotoGP
There had already been a MotoGP win apiece for Casey Stoner with Ducati and Dani Pedrosa with Honda, and with Yamahas riders also in the mix. Round three of the World Championship was at Estoril in Portugal, and the teams would assemble with several riders as potential race winner.
·False start for British Superbike racing in 2008
The eagerly awaited new season of British Superbike competition was due to kick start at the weekend, with the first meeting of 2008 on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch, in Kent. Would it be Honda or the new Ducati, or would there be renewed challenges from Suzuki, Yamaha and/or Kawasaki? Or would it be all about the weather?
·Craig Jones takes another World Supersport podium
Northwich rider Craig Jones was in Valencia over the weekend, competing in the World Supersport series. He had an up and down start to the pre-qualifying free practice session by dropping his machine, which caused extensive damage, but luckily Craig escaped any injuries.

The night race in Qatar had proved successful, but now it was time for the MotoGP World Championship to return to its base, Europe, for the Spanish Grand Prix at Jeréz. Casey Stoner and Ducati had started 2008 as if 2007 had never ended, but would it continue for them?
